Around 3 years ago I went to a Zumbathon and fell in love with it... dancing is so much fun for me. During and after college I wasn't working out that much (orrrr at all). I come from a background in competitive gymnastics and just hadn't found anything I liked to do workout wise (don't even talk to me about running). But Zumba had changed that. I received the Exhilarate DVDs for Christmas and started doing them. After a few months of sweating my butt off, I realized I was getting NOWHERE by working out but not changing my nutrition.
I tried Weight Watchers for about 3 months, lost some weight, but nothing mentally clicked with me (and I personally don't like tracking things). Fast forward a few months, I met an awesome friend at work who is a personal trainer, and she set me up on a workout schedule and recommended things to start eating.
Then I got into it... I researched foods, read books, watched tons of documentaries, wrote things down, and learned what I was putting in my body. And wow does that make a difference! I haven't tracked or counted a calorie, macro, whatever you want to call it since then. Instead I go by the ingredients and what food has in it (or doesn't have in it!).
My workouts have ranged from Zumba, running (yes!!), lifting, T25, yoga,@kayla_itsines Bikini Body Guide (BBG1 X2 and BBG2 x1 so far) and now I'm back to lifting/running/yoga/jump roping/anything.
I've become a lover of all animals and 95% vegan, a whole lot healthier and confident, 45 pounds lighter, and in charge of my life. I found things that work for ME.
My advice to anyone who is looking to lose weight, become healthier, actual "enjoy" working out, etc.. Is to...
☝🏻️ Truly find something you LOVE to do. When I started, I HATED running... so how the heck would I stick to something I hated?
✌🏻️ Educate yourself on what you're putting in your body. Read books, watch documentaries, listen to podcasts. If you wondering where to start, comment below or email me. I would LOVE to help you out!
💪🏻 Put your love and education together.. and WALK THE WALK!
